One Missed Call Film Poster Analysis

The main colour scheme is black, white and red. This allows for the white and red writing to stand out on the black background more and gets the audience to focus on this writing such as the red writing at the top stating 'What will it sound like when you die?' This makes the audience uneasy and wonder what it means and may intrigue them to watch the film to find out, the red also connotes the danger in the film. It also makes the main image in the center stand out more to the audience.

This main image in the center of the poster also makes the audience uneasy as it is on a black back with no bright colours around it, this creates an eerie feel for the figure in the middle and makes the audience wonder who it is and what it is doing on the phone. It is a closeup of the face of the character and shows that it is going to be an important character in the film. The dark background around it could connote mystery or death which heavely links to the genre of the film and lets the audience know what they are in for while watching it.

Shutter Island Film Poster Research

The first film poster I looked at was the poster for Martin Scorsese's thriller film 'Shutter Island'. This was because it is the same genre as the trailer that we are producing. Some of the main aspects of this poster include the colour of it, all of the colours used are very dark, dull and neutral, this makes the film seem more mysterious and the dark colours like black could connote death. The only other colours are red for the title 'Shutter Island' which connotes  the danger of the island. The flame is also the only other coloured part which again shows the danger of the situation and makes the audience wonder why there is a flame.

The two images used in the poster is a closeup of the main character of the film holding a match which is illuminating his face, this shows he is in the dark and makes the audience wonder as to why he is. The expression of his face is a mixed of scared and confused and further shows the genre as a thriller as it must have some sort of mystery in place. The other image is an establishing shot of the island the film is based on, it is basically a silhouette and creates a sense of obscurity so the audience doesn't really know what to expect and would be intrigued to watch and find out

The fonts used throughout this film poster are all very bold and sans serif, this shows that it is a much more serious film, the wording of parts also helps market the film. the small white tagline saying 'Someone is missing' is very good at creating a sense of mystery as it makes the audience wonder many questions like who it is, where they've gone, why they've gone etc, this will make them more likely to watch the film to figure out what has happened
