Inception Magazine Cover Analysis
Main Image - The main image is of the main character of the film, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, this helps show the readers that the film is going to be of a high quality, the writing around him is all slanted towards him giving it a 3D look and really making him the center of attention in the shot. There is also back lighting behind him, this with the 3D look and low angle shot makes him dominant and important.
Film Magazine

This was the first draft of the magazine cover for my film. The feedback I got back was that the mast head and surrounding aspects such as the main picture and date etc was fine. The two blocks of words were slightly too high and distracted from the main image so I was informed to move them down. The circle in the bottom right was too small, while the bar code was slightly too big and distracting. Finally, the three red bars looked slightly out of place since they were all equal lengths and should be changed a bit. These were all amended in the second draft below.
This is the magazine after the feedback was taken into consideration and changed.

Film Poster
The main colours used in the poster for my thriller film were black, red and white. These colours are very commonly used in films of this genre. Some examples of these are Shutter Island, One Missed Call (Both of which I analysed throughout the research) and several others such as the box. This is because these colours help to show the genre in different ways, The black and dark background connotes that there is a mystery involved and there is a lot of unknowns to the film, it can also connote death and shows that there is a risk of death in the film. The red then connotes the danger the protagonist could be in during the film, it also connotes violence and shows that the film may include things like blood and gore. The white is mainly there to stand out on the black background and draw the audiences attention to different things around the poster, such as the main title and reviews.
Another main aspect of my poster is the pictures involved in it, I decided to use the dark picture which is almost silhouette of the main character in the middle as it is very commonly used in posters of this genre, the three posters above also include this. This infers that there is a mystery surrounding the charcter shown in the poster

Split Film Trailer Research
Split
Overall Plot - It is a psychological thriller film where a man with 23 different personality's abducts 3 teenage girls in a car park and holds them captive in an underground hideout. They discover these different personality's from a middle aged woman to a young boy while trying to escape the man. As the film goes on his 24th personality, 'The Beast' begins to emerge.
Beginning - From the start there is creepy, child like non diegetic music over the father putting food in the car with the three teenage girls inside, these helps make the audience feel uncomfortable as it contrasts what is going on in the shots as it is high key lighting and shows that something out of the ordinary is happening. The music then comes to a halt as someone enters the car and one of the three girls notice the food knocked over in the rear view mirror of the car, this shows that something is wrong and the silence of the music helps reinforce this. It then shows a close up of the girl slowly turning to notice the unknown man sitting in the car this helps to build the tension up further. The spray bottle being used by the man has also been amplified to show that he is dangerous and in control of the situation. As this is happening there is a few cut aways to the main protagonist (the girl in the front of the car) whihc shows a close up of her shock and inability to do anything about the situation, this portrays her as more weak and shows her fear of what is going on. Below are three stills that I spoke about during the analysis of the start. It then cuts to the universal studios logo which shows the film is going to be of a high quality as the company have made many successful films.
Middle - After the universal logo it cuts to a point of view shot of the protagonist being taken somewhere, what she can see is pipes and wires in a narrow hallway which shows that they are underground and hidden away, this also gives the audience a sense of claustrophobia and continues to make them feel uncomfortable. The lighting is now much more low key than the beginning and it is also fairly blurry which gives the audience a sense of disorientation and helps put them in the protagonists place. After several more cuts between the narrow hallway and them it cuts to a shot of a hamster running in its cage, this symbolises that they are just pets to him and they are trapped just like animals. It then goes back to the hallway with asynchronous diegetic screaming of one of the girls pleading for him to open the door, this again shows the fear the three girls are in and makes you fear for their lives. After a few more cuts through different rooms of the underground hideout there is a point of view shot through the crack of a door which shows someone in high heels and a dress which signals that it is a woman who may be able to help, this gives the audience and the protagonists hope. We then find out that it is the same man from the beginning acting completely different and shows the audience about his multiple personalities and introduces us to one of the other ones. There is then a cut to black where previous films made by director come up which shows the audience that the film is going to be good if they enjoyed these other films made by the director. After this it then cuts to another one of his personalities being a young boy called hedwig, this further shows the mental state and because it is unnatural for a man to act that young it makes the audience uncomfortable with the situation.

Middle-End - It then cuts to the date of the film and then several shots of different personalities with a voice over of a woman explaining his situation and how rare it is to have so many personalities. This shows the audience partly why he is like what he is. It gets to a low angle shot of one of the personalities looking down on the camera, this makes him seem much stronger and much more in control of the situation.

Seven Film Poster Analysis
The main colours used in this poster are black, red and yellow these three colours all connote different things but all relate to making the audience understand what the film is roughly about. The black connotes mystery and evil which shows that there is a lot of unknowns in this film and that the two main characters also shown are part of a mystery. The yellow writing and yellow tint to the picture help make the audience feel uneasy as it is unnatural. The red then connotes the danger the characters are in and suggests that the film contains violence. The title 'Seven' is writen in a red font that resembles blood, this again shows the violent and gory nature of the film
The two main protagonists actors names are shown above the large image of their faces on either side of the poster, this is to bring fans of each actor and use star power to bring in people who know they are quality actors. The red tones along with the yellow over the two main faces, this again can be related to the violence and danger the characters are in and the yellow again is unnatural and makes the audience uneasy. The review from the rolling stone under Morgan Freeman's face shows that people are enjoying the film and also shows the genre and what it is like all in one which may help the marketing of the film
